MiG-29 fighter jet crashed in Siberia Russia




A MiG-29 fighter jet owned by the Russian Air Force crashed near Chita, Siberia, on Thursday, said the Russian Defense Ministry.

"The plane crashed near the airport Domna, 27 kilometers from Chita," said spokesman Colonel Igor Konashenkov Kemhan.

Pilot's body was found by rescue workers, he said, adding that the commission of the Ministry of Defence were on their way to the scene to investigate the cause of the accident.

According to first reports, the plane crashed into a hill.

All the MiG-29 has been grounded to wait investigating the cause of the accident, said Konashenkov as reported RIA Novosti.

The MiG-29 is a fourth-generation multirole fighter.

Currently there are 270 MiG-29 in the Russian Air Force and 40 other Russian Navy.
